FREE Back-to-School Lesson #4: Writing Figuratively About Yourself

This is the 4th FREE and fun back-to-school writing activity in the series. It does two things: A) It eases students into writing at this time of year when they are not thrilled to write, and B) It gives them the opportunity to share a little bit about themselves in a comfortable way. The only warning I would give is to not devote TOO much time to the art portion of the activity. Just decide on how much time you'd like them to take and then expect final results to reflect the amount of time they had (like don't expect amazing art).

The example below shows the front and back of a final product. It is made from a circle cut out of construction paper. It contains symbolic art on the front and similes about themselves on the back.
